About Landel

Bringing simpler solutions for email and data capture since 1998.

Email Service for consumers and small businesses -- MailBug
Landel pioneered email service without computers with the introduction of MailBug.  Landel MailBug makes email simple and low cost, without computer hassles or computer expenses, for consumer households and small businesses.  MailBug was the first non-computer email terminal available in the world, and it's still the preferred solution today.

Data Service for commercial customers -- DataBug
Landel also pioneered the technology to make electronic data capture simpler, again without computers, for commercial customers of all sizes.  Companies need a low cost and flexible way to capture data from locations where computers are either too impractical or too expensive, and Landel DataBug is the solution of choice.

Landel Telecom was incorporated in 1998 with a mission to bring easy to use telecommunication products and services to market. It was founded by experienced design engineers with over 50 years of combined industry experience in the telephony and computer industries.

Landel conceived, invented, and marketed the first non-computer email terminal in the world, called MailBug.  The service began in late 1997 using early prototypes, and the first production MailBug units shipped to customers in February 1998.  At the time, there was great interest in figuring out how to bring email-related information to devices that were easier to use than computers. And while other companies were still trying to display nothing more than email subject lines on tiny kitchen counter display boxes, Landel actually delivered real Internet email service to consumers using a simple non-computer terminal designed for homes and small business.  MailBug has been popular ever since, especially with seniors and small business owners. MailBug takes all the computer hassles out of using email, making email as easy to use as a telephone.

In response to customer requests, Landel brought its heritage of simplicity through innovative engineering to the data capture market for large commercial customers. DataBug -- an intelligent, low cost, and remotely configurable data terminal -- is the easiest way to capture commercial data from remote locations for use by central databases. DataBug lets commercial customers capture any type of data from virtually any location, relieving them of worries about computer hassles, computer support, and computer expenses. There is nothing else like it.

Located in San Jose, CA, Landel serves customers all over the US and Canada, as well as in other countries outside North America.
